The four photos that get you a boiler price without a visit
Updated 1 October 2026 · 2 minute read
Most gas boiler swaps in South Wales can be priced without anyone coming to your house. What makes that work is a few good photos. Here is what to send, and why each one matters.
1. The boiler, front on
Stand back far enough to get the whole boiler in, with a bit of wall either side. We can usually tell the make, the type and roughly its age from this, and whether it is a combi, a system boiler or a regular boiler.
2. The pipes underneath
Open any cupboard door and take a photo of the pipes coming out of the bottom. This tells us how many pipes there are, what size they look, and whether there is already a filter fitted. It is the photo that most often spots a pipework upgrade early, so you hear about it on the quote, not on the day.
3. Where the flue goes out
Go outside and photograph where the flue comes through the wall or roof, with the windows and doors around it in shot. Modern boilers have clearances from openings and boundaries, and this photo shows us whether the new boiler can use the same spot.
4. Anything in the airing cupboard or loft
If you have a hot water cylinder or tanks in the loft, a quick photo of each helps. It tells us whether you have a system or regular boiler, and lets us talk through whether a combi suits your home.
What else to tell us
- Your postcode, so we know which part of our area you are in
- How many bathrooms and showers you have
- Whether you want the boiler in the same place or moved
- Whether the old one is still working
What happens next
You get a fixed, fully fitted price for your chosen boiler, from £1,900 with VAT, plus anything your home needs on top, listed line by line. If you are happy, we book a date, from the next working day.
When a visit is needed
LPG and oil boilers always start with a site visit, and so do some bigger changes, like a back boiler coming out. We tell you straight away if yours is one of those. See LPG and oil in the Vale.
